SYRDARYA

Located on the banks of one of the longest rivers in Central Asia – the Syr Darya, the region has a huge potential for the development of eco-tourism. Fishing and agro-tourism are also very popular in the region.

The Syrdarya is the second longest river after the Amudarya River in Central Asia. The length of the river is 2,212 km.

Syrdarya has its rise near Namangan, the Fergana Valley, at the confluence of the Kyrgyz Naryn and Kara Darya rivers. During Uzbekistan Tours, there are many lakes and marshes can be found in the beginning of Syrdarya River while the bed of the river is twisted and unstable. The glacier part basin of the river Syrdarya River is weaker than of Amudarya River.

Syrdarya region specializes in cotton, silkworm, and melon growing, as well as in animal husbandry. The Syrdarya State District Power Plant and the Farhad Hydroelectric Power Station operate in the region, producing 1/4 of all electricity in the country. Cotton is also being grown here, and thanks to the new canal, it soon became the main center for the cultivation of “white gold” in the entire region.

All conditions for fishing and hunting for foreign and local tourists have been created in the Syrdarya region. In this area, wild boar, pheasant, wild ducks, geese, and other animals are hunted at the peak of the hunting season.

Apricots, quinces, pomegranates, plums, grapes, and cherries are grown in the garden.
