Small description

Translated from English, interlock means "crossing". It is a 100% cotton material, but has a pleasantly smooth surface on both sides. Its density is 240-330 g/m2. Interlock is referred to as double knitwear, since two rows of knitting machine needles are used in the manufacture of the fabric. Each one forms a row of front and back loops from the transverse thread, alternating in a given sequence (most often one to one), while the front columns of the second row are placed between the stretched columns of the first. As a result, interlock fabric (domestic manufacturers often use the name dvulastik) acquires the following features:

• the same smooth pattern on both sides;
• high density;
• lack of twisting of a cloth;
• loops that do not unravel when the thread is broken.

The traditional raw material for production is cotton, and a small percentage of elastane may also be contained. The best is a fabric made from combed yarn of the highest quality (singing). It is expensive, but the smoothness, thinness and durability justify the high price.

An even lower price is for knitwear with the addition of viscose and synthetic fibers, so when buying, you need to carefully read the description of the composition of the product. It should be borne in mind that the interlock fabric stretches very weakly (mainly in the transverse direction), and an increased content of elastane in some cases can be very desirable.

APPLICATION

Natural and durable knitted fabric is used to sew sports, home and street clothes, bathrobes, pajamas, tracksuits, nightwear and underwear. Pure cotton products are suitable for very young children. Of these, overalls, hats, blouses, bodysuits are made, used for sheets and pillowcases.

In order for things from interlock to stretch well, elastane is added to the composition of the fibers (no more than 10%). This fabric is used for sewing tracksuits, trousers, sweatshirts, hats, etc. For street wear, blended material with the addition of polyester and viscose is also suitable. Its hygienic and warming properties are not too high, but it looks bright and is inexpensive.
