Uzbekistan to reach $1B in IT exports in 2025

Uzbekistan is set to surpass US$1 billion in IT services exports for the first time in 2025, aiming to increase this figure to US$5 billion by 2030. This was announced by the Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, Sherzod Shermatov, during the region’s first GSMA M360 event held in Tashkent.

“Since 2017, thanks to the bold and visionary policies of our President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan has been actively transforming its economy to become more modern, open, and digitally oriented,” said Shermatov. “If we compare 2017 to today, internet access — which then was a luxury mostly available only in Tashkent — is now widespread: present in all schools, hospitals, and rural areas. It has become accessible and high-quality for everyone.”

The Minister highlighted the rapid development of the digital government: “The share of online services has already exceeded 80%, and by 2030 we plan to enter the top 30 countries globally in e-government development.”

Special attention is given to creating favorable conditions for IT companies. “In our IT park, which in 2017 hosted fewer than 10 foreign-invested companies, more than 30 new offices are opening every month now. We provide a ‘one-stop shop’ service, minimize bureaucratic barriers, exempt companies from taxes, and reduce tax burdens on employees,” explained Shermatov. “We also support workforce training by partially subsidizing education for future specialists.”

Uzbekistan’s IT park today stands as a powerful hub for technology development and innovation. With government support and international initiatives, the country is creating a comfortable ecosystem for business growth and investment attraction.

“This year, Uzbekistan’s IT services exports will exceed US$1 billion, and by 2030 we expect to reach US$5 billion. I am confident that the companies and participants at today’s event will be part of this success,” the Minister concluded.
