Uzbekistan starts early cherry exports with high demand

Uzbekistan's Fergana region has initiated cherry exports for the new season, with early shipments beginning in late April, a week ahead of the previous year. This development marks the commencement of larger shipments, predominantly featuring the early-ripening "Bahor" cultivar, known for its smaller size.

According to reports, demand for these cherries is already high in international markets. Current exports include cherries sized between 20 and 26 mm, priced between $3.20 and $4.20 per kilogram under FCA terms.

Uzbekistan remains a leading global exporter of fresh cherries, with typical annual volumes ranging from 30,000 to 60,000 tons. In 2024, the country exported 32,200 tons, generating $70.3 million in revenue, as per the National Statistics Committee.
