Ruslan Nurudinov Breaks His Own World Record and Becomes a Three-Time World Champion

The Uzbekistan men’s weightlifting team has concluded its participation in the World Weightlifting Championship, which is wrapping up in Bahrain. Olympic champion Ruslan Nurudinov marked the team’s performance with an outstanding finish.

Competing in the -109 kg weight category, Nurudinov secured fifth place in the snatch exercise by lifting 182 kg. However, he displayed exceptional skill in the clean and jerk, lifting 242 kg and breaking his own world record set three years ago in Tashkent.

As a result, his combined total of 424 kg remained unbeaten, earning Nurudinov his third world championship title in the biathlon.

Sharofiddin Amriddinov, who won the gold medal in the snatch category, lifted 212 kg in the clean and jerk to take sixth place in that exercise and fifth place overall with a total of 396 kg. Nonetheless, Uzbekistan’s representatives claimed all the gold medals across different categories.

Thus, Uzbekistan’s national team finished the world championship with a total of 3 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals.
