Sulfur is an essential element for all life, but almost always in the form of organosulfur compounds or metal sulfides.Sulphur is a valuable commodity and integral component of the world economy used to manufacture numerous products including fertilizers and other chemicals.Sulphur also is a vital nutrient for crops, animals and people.

It is used in the formation of amino acids, proteins, and oils.It is necessary for chlorophyll formation, promotes nodulation in legumes, helps develop and activate certain enzymes and vitamins, and is a structural component of two of the 21 amino acids that form protein.
