According to some scientists, figs are the oldest, the first domesticated cultivated plant. The remains of figs were found during excavations of kitchen utensils from Neolithic times. This suggests that this fruit has been known to man for seven thousand years.

The fig tree is one of the few crops that is not treated with chemicals and is not fed with mineral fertilizers. Therefore, figs are rightfully considered one of the most environmentally friendly products. It is also called "paradise fruit". It is noteworthy that, unlike other fruits (dates, grapes, pomegranates), everything in figs is healthy and edible. According to Ibn Sina, figs are more nutritious than all fruits.

The most useful and common variety of figs is yellow. There are also black, dark blue and light green figs. In shape, it can be round, oval or pear-shaped.
