Quartzite is a hard, non-foliated metamorphic rock which originally was pure quartz sandstone.

Quartzite is typically white to gray in color, but can often be found in various shades due to impurities such as iron oxide, which can produce pink, red, or purple hues.

Quartzite has numerous uses: it is often used as a decorative stone in construction, for countertops and flooring due to its durability and aesthetic appeal, as crushed stone for road construction and railway ballast, and in the glass industry as a source of silica.
